Its easy. You send me a photo - I send you a painting.

FIRST: SEND ME A PHOTO. Decide "Who" (or what) you want to have painted. It can be a portrait of you, your parents, your ancestors, your dog, your praying mantis, your favorite cactus, Albert Einstein, your arch nemesis, a landscape, Patti Smith or William Shatner - anyone (or thing) at all. If its you or someone you know, a live sitting can be arranged in my studio or your home. If its an animal OR a young child (who can't sit still) OR someone who no longer exists on this earthly plane OR if you live far away - then I suggest you send me a photo. Of course some photos are better than others - a "closed mouth smile" (if any) and good frontal or dramatic lighting is required. Flash photography is generally not the best. That said, a great photo will make a great painting regardless of the previous requirements. I am always happy to discuss the details and the options with you.

NEXT: CHOOSE A STYLE. If you have a specific style in mind then please let me know. If you're unsure of the style you prefer, its a good idea to look through the website at the many samples of portraits painted - from classical to expressionistic, graphic & iconic to abstracted (as well as many more interpretations of isms & esques). As before, I am always happy to consult with you to help determine the stylistic approach that best suits your needs.

THEN: CHOOSE THE MATERIALS. In addition to painting in oil on canvas, I also use acrylics, enamels and watercolors. I also paint on wood panels, paper or found objects. As before, I recommend looking over the website galleries to see what speaks to you. And as I mentioned, I am always happy to consult with you to help determine the materials that best suit your sensabilities.

LAST: CHOOSE A SIZE. Its best to have an idea where your painting will hang in order to determine what size would be appropriate. If framing is desired then be sure to leave room for that in measuring out the space where it will hang. As always, I am happy to consult with you to choose a suitable size.
Once we decide the WHO, WHAT, HOW and HOW BIG then its only a matter of time before I am sending your custom portrait to you. The turn-over time depends on the above specifications.
I have portrait options available for all budgets. I am always happy to answer any questions about this process. There are limitless options and I am open to ideas.
