Send me a photo - I'll send you a painting.

FIRST: SEND ME A PHOTO. Decide "Who" (or what) you want to have painted. It can be a portrait of you, your parents, your ancestors or friends, your dog, your favorite childhood photo - anyone (or thing) at all. If its you or someone you know, a live sitting can be arranged in my studio or your home. If its an animal OR a young child (who can't sit still) OR someone who's passed on OR if you live far away - send me a photo. Of course some photos are better than others - good frontal or dramatic lighting is pretty important to what I do. Flash photography is generally not the best. That said, a great photo can occur under any conditions and a great photo will make a great painting regardless. I'm happy to discuss the details and options. Lets make some great art here!!

NEXT: CHOOSE A STYLE. If you have a specific style in mind - please let me know. If you're unsure of the style you prefer, just look through the website at the many samples of commissioned portraits. They are painted in a range of styles - from classical to expressionistic, graphic & iconic to abstracted, etc etc... We can determine the stylistic approach that best satisfies your concept.

THEN: CHOOSE THE MATERIALS. In addition to painting in oil on canvas, I also work in acrylics, watercolor and enamels. I use diverse materials - wood panels, paper or found objects. Look through the website galleries to see what speaks to you. They are separated by materials (Oils, Collage, Watercolors, Acrylics). I can help you determine the composition of materials that best suits your sensibility.

LAST: CHOOSE A SIZE. Its best to have an idea WHERE your painting might hang in order to determine what SIZE will be appropriate. If framing is desired, remember to leave room for that in measuring out the wall where it will hang. There are some standard sizes but there are also endless variations.
Once we decide the WHO? WHAT? HOW? and HOW BIG? then its only a matter of time before until you receive your portrait. The turn-around time depends on how involved the painting ends up being.
I have portrait options available for all budgets. I'm happy to answer any questions and open to ideas.
